Meet Xavyr, Senior Software Engineer
1. Where did you grow up?
Federal Way, WA on the border of Tacoma.
2. What brought you to CyberGRX?
I was open to new opportunities because I missed being a remote developer and my prior company’s stack had a hardware component that anchored us to the office. Then, in talking to the team during the interview process, everyone’s excitement about the potential of the CyberGRX Exchange was really evident. I felt like everyone was excited about the modernity of the tech stack and the potential behind the company. I did as much research as I could and really bought in.
3. What do you do at CyberGRX/what’s your typical day like?
I start off with a code review of something someone else has written on central or east coast time usually. Then a standup meeting to get synced with top priorities. Then it’s writing code on any given ticket or feature and pull requesting that when it’s done.
4. What advice would you give to your teenage self?
I’d tell my teenage self to trust the process a little more, get a better understanding of stats, keep surfing and traveling.
5. What has had the greatest impact on your life?
Living abroad has had a huge impact on my life; the grass isn’t greener it’s just different on the other side and we all should be living life exactly as we wish since there are so many different varieties of lifestyles and pursuits happening all around us that we can plug into or enjoy aspects of.
6. What’s your hidden superpower?
Not panicking in heavy surf.
