Meet Liesl, Vice President of Marketing
1. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Washington, D.C. (actually in DC proper – not MD or VA).
2. What brought you to CyberGRX?
I had been working in cyber security for almost 10 years, but wanted to work for a local company and shake up my career path. I liked that CyberGRX was just coming to market and saw an opportunity to help build something from the ground up. I knew there would be a lot of challenges, but I see challenges as an opportunity to get uncomfortable, learn and grow.
3. What do you do at CyberGRX/what’s your typical day like?
There is nothing typical about working here, but I truly love coming into the office. I have the best co-workers and every day presents something new. I’d say I spend most days tracking the performance of all of our efforts and trying to think of ways to optimize existing marketing strategies and tactics, while implementing new initiatives (that don’t always succeed!).
4. What advice would you give to your teenage self?
Stop misbehaving and spend more time studying.
5. What has had the greatest impact on your life?
Two things come to mind. My sister was in a terrible car accident when we were in high school and by the grace of the universe survived – and went onto college within months while still being put back together. I have never again seen confidence and determination like that and it still moves me to this day. The second is my son. That little man has flipped my life upside down for the better, and our journey is just beginning.
6. What’s your hidden super power?
I’ve been told I can get a lot of shit done. But really I think being a single working mom while managing marketing for a start-up is a feat in and of itself.
