Meet Kelsey, Lead Third-Party Onboarding Specialist

1. Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in a town called Albany in South Georgia. Not wanting to go far from home, I attended the University of Georgia where I graduated with a BBA in Marketing. I love my home state of Georgia but I needed to seize the opportunity to move as a recent graduate and came to Denver a year ago. It was a surprisingly bold move that has led me to an amazing group of friends, outdoor adventures, and an exciting job I never would have expected for myself.

2. What brought you to CyberGRX?

I didn’t start my job hunt until I got to Denver. I was fresh out of college, with little professional experience so it was a stressful process. Luckily, I met the right person at the right time and she put me in contact with CyberGRX. I always found cybersecurity to be an interesting field and being at the forefront of third-party cyber risk management was too good of an opportunity to pass up!

3. What do you do at CyberGRX/what’s your typical day like?

I am the Lead Third-Party Onboarding Specialist. I communicate with sales engineers and customer reps to ensure ingest needs are properly prioritized and met – basically, I research each third party that is on our Exchange to make sure that every data point is accurate, making any modifications that are needed. This allows our customers to accurately order assessments and allows us, internally, to compile data for monthly reporting. I also train the new Onboarding Specialists and do my best to motivate and direct the team!

4. What advice would you give to your teenage self?

I would tell my teenage self to listen to Benjamin Franklin and “don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.” Or more specifically, don’t tell yourself that you will get up early on a Friday and finish a school project, because you won’t.

5. What has had the greatest impact on your life?

Growing up with an older brother who is autistic has had the greatest impact on my life. It challenged me to become a better person by teaching me to be more compassionate towards others, it helped me grow by giving me a greater sense of responsibility, and it motivated me by providing me with a stronger desire to succeed, not only for me, but for him as well.

6. What’s your hidden superpower?

I always try to turn lemons into lemonade no matter what life throws at me.
