Meet Corey, Controller

1. Where did you grow up?

I grew up in San Mateo, CA with four siblings. I attended a local High School and graduated out of what was Hayward State University and is now East Bay State with a BS in Accounting.

2. What brought you to CyberGRX?

Prior to my coming on board with CyberGRX last May, I worked as an Accounting Manager for a company in Burlingame, CA and CyberGRX was one of our clients. In January 2016 I was assigned to CyberGRX and became their Accountant. In late 2018, with the growth of the company and change in accounting systems, CyberGRX needed a full time person to come on board. I was offered the position and work remotely from California.

3. What do you do at CyberGRX/what’s your typical day like?

I help our CFO manage and run the Financial part of our company. I spend time each day doing accounting tasks such as approving invoices and expense reports, invoicing customers, working with department heads to manage spend. Monthly my responsibilities are reporting Financial Statements/Revenue numbers to the company.

4. What advice would you give to your teenage self?

I would tell my teenage self to enjoy things a little more and take a few more chances in life now because it is harder to do when you get older.

5. What has had the greatest impact on your life?

I think there are two things that have had the greatest impact for me in my life. The first are my two girls. I look at them and realize that somehow I did something right. They fill me with such pride and they definitely keep me grounded. The second would be my parents. I lived in a house of five kids that were very close in age. I am not sure how they managed it all. But they showed us daily just how important family is and supported us no matter what.

6. What’s your hidden superpower?

I am not sure I have any hidden superpowers but being a single parent to two kids for the last 13 years, coaching their sports, getting them to appointments, getting them to and through college may qualify for something.
