Meet Andy Merskin, Frontend / UX Engineer

1. Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming, beyond the great border of Colorado, where wind, cold, and rodeos reign supreme.

2. What brought you to CyberGRX?

I met up with the talented Will Justice (Front-End Engineer at CyberGRX) to catch up over dinner, and he told me all about the place, and how they needed more front-end engineers and designers. With a little past experience designing third-party risk software, not applying for the position would have been a huge mistake.

3. What do you do at CyberGRX/what’s your typical day like?

I work on our Engineering team as a Front-End Engineer and UX Designer, making sure our platform looks, feels, and functions the way you would expect a world-class app to feel, collaborating with teams all over the company to make our vision of a great experience for our users a reality!

4. What advice would you give to your teenage self?

Discover your blind spots as soon as possible, and don’t be afraid to seek wisdom and advice from the wiser few in your life when you aren’t certain. Don’t be afraid to break the shell your upbringing kept you in.

5. What has had the greatest impact on your life?

Following Jesus—getting to know who He is, learning how to love myself so that I can love others even better, knowing that my wrongs are accounted for so that I can truly understand how to forgive others, and bringing real-for-true grace and ease for others into my daily life. Counseling, MBTI, and the Enneagram have all been incredible tools for building intentionality around all of this!

6. What’s your hidden superpower?

I’m a Weasley at heart—that’s quite enough magic for the day.

But I also know how to make these sounds: Crows Cawing, Cats Meowing, Chihuahuas Growling, Police Sirens Howling, and Babies Crying. That last one is kind of fun to confuse people on hiking trails with.
