Get to Know CyberGRX: Meet Amber Hotchkiss
by CyberGRX
Meet Amber, Customer Success Manager
Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Texas and grew up primarily in a town in East Texas called Gladewater, a population currently of about 6,000 people. I really enjoyed the small town experience.
What brought you to CyberGRX?
I arrived at CyberGRX through a chance meeting with an employee that worked here. At the time, I was working as a dental assistant, however, prior to that, I worked in intelligence with the Air Force and DOD. Dental assisting allowed me to have more interaction with a variety of people on a daily basis and really helped me hone my interpersonal skills and my intelligence background helped me hone my technical skills. This combination of experience ultimately led me to gain a position with CyberGRX as a Customer Success Manager.
What do you do at CyberGRX
My position as a Customer Success Manager at CyberGRX allows me to be the face of our organization to third-parties who have been ordered on by our customers. It is a big responsibility, but one that I enjoy and take very seriously. I work with third-parties to introduce them to the CyberGRX model. By working closely with them I get to see first hand how our product is revolutionizing third-party risk management entirely. It is exciting for me to be able to bring our solution to people who are heavily burdened with constant requests for assessments. In addition to introducing them to our company, I also am available to answer questions and help with anything that is needed in order to facilitate their completion of the assessment for their customers. I provide out-briefs on assessment results to third-parties, customers, and business partners that have had CyberGRX Assessment results shared with them. I enjoy being able to explain the information that is provided in our reports to companies who are seeing it for the first time. The excitement that is expressed when people see the value that we provide is one of the most satisfying parts of my job.
What advice would you give to your teenage self?
The advice I would give to my teenage self is that who you are in High School does not reflect who you are in the world. In high school, I was told that I wasn’t cool and that being smart and being shy were bad things, and I believed that. Once I left high school and joined the military though, I was valued for being smart, hence my job in Intelligence. I also learned that my ability to not just say anything I was thinking, really helped me in boot camp when my Training Instructor had quite a lot to say, well, yell. Who you are to one person is not necessarily who you are to another, the most important thing is who you are to yourself.
What’s your favorite thing about Denver?
My favorite thing about Denver is the natural beauty all around. Texas is great, of course, but Denver has scenic beauty that is unmatched. I have enjoyed hiking in the mountains and actually experiencing White Christmases.
What’s your hidden super power?
My hidden super power is being able to be great at my job while being a great mom. I have two beautiful little girls who are 8 and 1. As many working moms know, it can be challenging sometimes to make it all work. I think all moms, whether stay-at-home or working, have many super powers that enable us to somehow get it all done.
